I just got this at exactly 12:00am from Visual arts and here is what it says…
“Mr Aeka
My answer is delayed and it is sorry.
The reason is that we were taking the summer closing.
Well, the content of the mail that you had sent was understood.
However, because we do not understand the patch of Britain, it is not possible to answer.
At least, I am requesting discontinuance of the translation of no permission that you are doing.
If you hope for the exercise of a formal translation right, consideration of millions of yen = tens of thousands of dollars might be needed.
However, we do not grant permission to a personal translation.
We wish to express our gratitude to coming to the favor of our game.
we think the rule to want you to defend in it and the same.
Please it is hoped that you do the sincere correspondence.

I don’t care if Alicesoft does not agree with the patch…..there were thousands of translations of games that were released without even THINKING to ask to the developers.
A TRANSLATION PATCH IS LIKE MODDING A GAME!! WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH IT????
*they know better than us the the game is beign played in other countries other than japan.
please don’t leave the project…i beg you
Its visualArts not Alicesoft, Last night we did call the number that was on the email, we did not have anyone who could speak English at the time, we are currently working towards getting a license agreement negotiation, if that is a success we will contact JASTUSA or MangaGamer….but right now everything is still up in the air..

Are these people stupid? If they allowed a translation of it, it would mean people who can’t actually read Japanese might actually buy the thing. To complain about ‘copyrights blah blah blah’ Especially after they already gave you the go ahead to do it is both inconsiderate and exceptionally inane.
#Define gave us premission, not Visual Arts. But I agree that its fucking stupid since if they ALLOWED translation they would make more money selling just the original Japanese product, or if they were not such hard asses and allowed a company to acquire there license at a “realistic” price they could make extra $$ of royalty’s.
That’s ridiculous. Please don’t drop the project!
We already did T_T Legal issues are to much for us
